Application forms for membership are obtained through the Society office.
The application must be completed and signed by the applicant. Sponsors do not need to sign the application but must be active members of the Society (inactive members cannot sponsor applicants).
A letter of support from each sponsor is required and should be addressed to the Secretary of the Society but mailed or emailed to the Peripheral Vascular Surgery Society office c/o DMC Companies.
The application and two letters of support must be received by March 1st in order to be considered for membership by the Executive Committee at the annual meeting in June.
Eligibility for membership in the Society requires:
The physician to have good professional standing.
Completion of an RRC-accredited residency or fellowship in vascular surgery or a vascular residency program (non-USA) recognized by the Peripheral Vascular Surgery Society.
Certification by the American Board of Surgery (or its equivalent) in vascular surgery.
Submitting application within twelve years of vascular residency completion.
A sustained major interest and the active practice of vascular surgery.
*The Candidate Group of the Society consists of participants who are in good professional standing in an RRC-accredited vascular surgery residency or vascular fellowship recognized by the Peripheral Vascular Surgery Society. Participants in the Candidate Group may:
Attend the scientific meetings at the same charge as current active members of the Society.
Present papers, if sponsored by an active Society member.
Attend the annual banquet.
Receive Society correspondence (calls for abstracts, meeting notices, etc.)
Candidate applicants have two years following completion of vascular training in which to complete their American Board of Surgery certification before they must repeat the application process. Upon receipt of a copy of vascular surgery certificate (or equivalent), candidate applicants are eligible to be promoted to active members.
